Bio

I am a professor in geographic information science. I teach the use and development of geographic information systems (GIS) and geographic visualization. GIS and geographic visualization are tools that are used in a variety of disciplines. I have experience using GIS in many different disciplines including the study of civil war, urban planning, education, literary studies, crisis preparedness, and especially climate risk assessment which includes natural hazard assessments, vulnerability and exposure analysis, and adaptation to climate change. Since it is "a geography of everything" and since everything happens somewhere, GIS and geographic visualization often act as the "glue" in interdisciplinary projects and I enjoy participating with people having different backgrounds.
